“Al Borde was a big winner at the 22nd Annual National Association of Hispanic Publications NAHP and the 57th Annual Association of Free Community Papers AFCP’s award ceremonies. The Latin Alternative publication came away with a total of eight awards including top honors for the AFCP’s “Best of Show”””a tribute given to the publications that obtain the highest number of awards, and an honor bestowed on Al Borde for the second consecutive year.

Al Borde’s aesthetic design and ventures into multimedia were certainly recognized as the publication came away with honors for “Best Internet Home Page”, “Best Cover Design”, “Best Sales Presentation” and “Best Original Artwork.” The recognition that Al Borde received from both organizations is in line with the publication’s increased popularity in recent years.

“We are honored to receive these impressive distinctions from two reputable organizations,” exclaimed Martha de la Torre, Publisher of Al Borde. “2007 has been a year of tremendous change for Al Borde, we’re now launching into new territories like mobile service sites, private concerts and events. Recognitions like the ones we received from the NAHP and the AFCP serve as a sort of encouragement for us”¦they let us know that we are on the right track.”

The edgy, Latin Alternative entertainment bi-weekly celebrates its tenth year with plenty to boast about: not only did Al Borde receive an impressive eight awards from the AFCP and NAHP, but this year the publication also unveiled a minor makeover which presented a cleaner, more uniform appearance, and successfully launched an “Acoustic Sessions” concert series as well.

Al Borde’s parent publication El Clasificado also came away with big wins at the conventions, receiving top honors for the NAHP’s Outstanding Circulation Program category, and a special recognition by the AFCP as an “Outstanding Publication.” Together, El Clasificado and Al Borde earned a combined total of 12 awards.

The AFCP represents publishers of more than 3,000 free-circulation community papers, reaching an average of 45 million homes weekly. The 2007 AFCP Awards Contest received over 4,500 entries this year, making it the largest in AFCP’s history. The NAHP is a nonprofit trade advocacy organization. The Annual NAHP Hispanic Print Awards are the largest Hispanic media awards in the United States, receiving more than 700 entries in 6 categories.
