“Yolanda Casillas was a bilingual customer service representative before such a position existed at AT&T.

The company did not have a designated Spanish-language call center when she started 26 years ago, so calls from Spanish-speaking customers were sent to Casillas and about 20 others who spoke the language.

“I think we reached out to so many different customers who wouldnt have had telephone service otherwise,” she said. “We let them know about low-income discounts. It was a big advantage to get that message across.”"
