“The National Association of Hispanic Publications, an organization representing the largest Hispanic publications in the country, announced the winners of the José Martí Publishing Awards honoring excellence in Hispanic print at their 25th anniversary celebration.

More than 700 entries in six categories were received from more than 50 publications across the nation. The awards, named after Cuban journalist, poet and statesman José Martí, are the preeminent awards for Hispanic print media. José Martí once wrote, “It is the duty of man to raise up man,” and that quote captures the essence of the world of Hispanic print which often is the sole voice of the Latino community.

Incoming NAHP president Clara Padilla-Andrews stated, “The José Martí Publishing Awards are very special to our industry. They honor excellence in publishing as our members continue to lead the growth in Hispanic print media in the U.S.” In the past two years the association has grown by more than 100% and now represents 175 publications. She added, “Our members put out daily, weekly or monthly publications that are on a par with general market media, but with one difference – they speak directly to the Latinos living in the United States.”

Please see the attached for a full list of winners in the categories of: General Excellence, Outstanding Sections, Written Word, Outstanding Design, Outstanding Photos and Cartoons, and Outstanding Marketing Materials.
