LULAC Holds its 1st. Annual Georgia State Convention

Washington, DC - The Annual Georgia State Convention will be held on April 21st in Atlanta, Georgia at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta. The theme for the conference is “becoming change agents for the community” and will address many issues including legislative, grassroots organizing and developing your leadership skills. Among those welcoming attendees will be State Senator Nan Orrock from District 34.

“We need to become the agents of change in our communities,” said LULAC National President Rosa Rosales. “Latinos need to be able to stand up and be heard. We cannot remain complacent anymore.”

The event will be filled with a celebrity speakers, important seminars and professional networking. LULAC National President Rosa Rosales will be the keynote speaker during the Saturday luncheon. The Coca-Cola Company will be sponsoring a special reception in honor of the National President with local corporate leaders.

“Most Georgians do not know that LULAC is actually the oldest Hispanic Serving organization in Georgia from advocating against the English Only legislation of the 80s to giving away more than $225,000 in scholarships with over 26 years of service to this community, ” said LULAC Georgia State Director Zayra Fosse. “It is a distinct honor to support this landmark event.”

9:00am - Plenary I - Georgia Policy and Legislative Platform
Tisha Tallman, Maniklal & Dennis, LLP and LULAC State Legal Adviser
10:00am - Plenary II - Effective Grassroots Organizing
Sylvia Sanchez, IMAGE of Atlanta and Belen Robles, LULAC Past President
12:30pm - Plenary III - Leadership to Effect Change
Tim Elmore, Founder and President of Growing Leaders, Inc.
The Coca-Cola Company, Lanza Group and Laser Aestetica are the conference sponsors.
