Latin-American Festival brings health, hospitality – Collier County, Florida

“Food, live Latin music, free health screenings, arts and crafts, children’s entertainment and business fair – the Third Annual Festival de la Familia Latinoamericana Latin-American Family Fest will have it all, Sat., April 28 at the Golden Gate Community Center. Created and organized by Eyes Wide Open, the Festival has traditionally provided the Hispanic community of Collier County with a unique opportunity to have access to valuable services and information. This year, organizers have decided to expand the health fair – held in the centers air-conditioned gymnasium – by inviting more health providers to participate than in previous years.

“We are completely sold out, and almost half of the booths are taken by both non-profit and private health providers,” explained Silvia Casabianca, director of Eyes Wide Open. The Collier County Health Department is sponsoring the event and will perform free hepatitis and AIDS screening tests.”
