Topo GigioPalomita®, a new junior and girl’s fashion brand with a focus on the Hispanic market, today announced an exclusive licensing agreement with popular character Topo Gigio. Topo Gigio is the latest addition to the Palomita apparel line launching in spring 2007.

Topo Gigio, a soft foam mouse with dreamy eyes and a childish personality, danced, sang, and charmed his way into the hearts of millions of fans. Topo has been very popular on Italian TV, in children’s magazines, animated cartoons, movies and merchandising since his creation in the 1960s.

The endearing puppet has made appearances in many other countries including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Peru. In Latin America, Topo Gigio became a smash hit in 1968 with a weekly TV show featuring Raul Astor and had several LPs with songs sung by Gabriel Garzon. His popularity spread to the United States after his appearance on Ed Sullivan’s weekly show. Today Topo Gigio is an international icon.

“We are pleased to be part of the Palomita brand,” shared Jorge Rossi, the United States ambassador for Topo Gigio. “We are ready to take Topo “out of the closet” and reintroduce him to the US market. It will be the beginning of many great things for our friendly mouse.”

Molly Robbins, Palomita Founder and President of LicenZing LLC says, “We feel that having Topo Gigio as part of our assortment will hit home with our Hispanic customers. Topo Gigio is a classic that rekindles many fond memories for us all.”

Palomita’s motto “Por fin una marca para ti” (Finally a brand for you) tells the story. Palomita was created by Molly Robbins, a Mexico City native as well an apparel industry veteran. She has secured exclusive rights to use trademarks and vintage art from an array of Latino companies and is artistically incorporating them into the Palomita brand.
