Outspoken Cuban Catholic magazine closing – Vitral
Tagged: activist, circulation, Cuba, CubanPosted on: April 16th, 2007“The Cuban Catholic church’s magazine Vitral, long a unique outlet for critical commentary and analysis on Cuba, has announced it will cease publication for lack of resources. Church activists said the decision was taken under government pressure.
Founded in 1994 by the Diocese of Pinar del Río in western Cuba, the magazine had a circulation of some 10,000 and was considered the best Catholic publication under Cubas communist system. The magazine has a website — www.vitral.org — and sends out regular bulletins by email. There was no indication whether the website would continue.”
