“The Hispanic Media Awards in conjunction with Hispanic PR Wire announced today the keynote Speaker for this year’s Hispanic Media Awards program. The past President of Mexico, Vicente Fox Quesada will provide the keynote address for the event and those being honored. During his tenure as president from 2000 to 2006, he succeeded in controlling inflation and interest rates, and in achieving the lowest unemployment rate in all of Latin America. He is the second of nine children and spent much of his childhood in Guanajuato, Mexico. He began work as a truck driver for the Coca-Cola Company in 1964 and was quickly promoted. He soon became the youngest executive to ever be appointed president of Coca-Cola for Mexico and Latin America.
The Awards program recognizes journalists for their influence, community involvement, and the quality of their work. In all, the program recognizes 50 journalists and media executives from across the country in Radio, Print, Television, and other media. The awards will be presented at the Hispanic Media Awards dinner on May 24th, 2007 at the Marriott Rivercenter Grand Ballroom in San Antonio, TX. On The Edge Promotions, a San Antonio based company that recognizes the growing influence of Spanish-language TV, radio, newspapers, the Internet, and the extraordinary efforts of professionals who contribute their journalistic excellence to keep the U.S. Hispanic community informed, is producing the Hispanic Media Awards in partnership with Hispanic PR Wire. Calls for nominations for the awards program were issued in January and February. The Annual Hispanic Media Awards Ring of Honor inductee will also be recognized for his or her lifetime achievement.
