“This week, as Congress braces itself for another contentious debate on reforming the nations immigration system, national experts will mark the marches with a two-day, University of Houston seminar beginning Thursday. The “Sí se Puede Immigration, Latino Growth and the New Voices in American Politics” conference organized by the UH Center for Mexican American Studies will examine the implications of last years protests and the passionate national dialogue.

“Last year, society-at-large got to see that there is a large immigrant population in this country thats seeking to secure their position. The immigrants gained visibility,” says UH sociology department Chairman Nestor Rodriguez, one of the seminar speakers.”
