County Supervisor Blanca Alvarado was so furious she publicly asked the police chief to punish Lopez. Chief Rob Davis publicly disapproved. Hate mail came winging in.
But so did support. The spotlight was suddenly shining hotly on the college dropout who rose from a poor, patriotic Latino kid to a street-smart patrol officer to the first Latino president of the police union and one of the most powerful cops in the Bay Area.”
