“The Field Poll has released this morning results of its survey taken in late March that shows that illegal immigration continues to be a big issue for California voters, but some of their views are beginning to shift away from building a massive fence to deal with this migration and increased support for opportunities for those who are here illegally to get on a path towards legalizing their status.

In many respect the polling data has not changed, much if at all. 49% of California voters feel immigration is a serious issue, down ever so slightly from 53% who held this opinion in July of 2006 and an additional 28% consider it to be somewhat serious. 71% of the state’s voters still favor increasing the numbers of federal agents patrolling the border. This is the same as found in the last poll touching upon this issue in July of 2006.”
