“THE COLLEGE OF MARINS Anita Martinez stood before some 300 Hispanic high school seniors Thursday and asked this question:
“How many of you would be the first in your family to attend college?”
Well over half of the students from several Marin high schools raised their hands, causing Martinez, the colleges vice president for student learning - herself the first in her family to attend and then graduate not only from college but also high school - to smile broadly.”
