“A proposal aimed at confronting employers who hire illegal immigrants won approval Tuesday from a committee at the Arizona Legislature.

The proposal would make it a state crime to knowingly hire illegal immigrants and require businesses to sign affidavits saying they arent breaking such a rule.

“It creates an even, fair, honest, competitive field for those folks who follow the law, said Republican Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa, sponsor of the proposal HB2779.”
