“The group is the county’s first Spanish-speaking team to graduate from Community Emergency Response Team training, a program designed to teach people how to help emergency services professionals in a disaster, according to a news release.

“We hope this first class will lead to increased participation in future classes by members of the Latino community,” said Norcott DEsterre, emergency management planner for Union County. “This bilingual CERT team will work alongside existing CERT teams in the county and will also be deployed to serve the Latino community in times of emergencies.”"
