“An unexpected pleasure, the UTPA Visitors Center has become a gallery space for the very beautiful exhibition, Retablos: The Art of Faith. This fine exhibition represents another collection from the Backal family their Mexican silver collection is still on view at International Museum of Art & Science in McAllen.

This exhibition presents authentic museum caliber retablos from Mexico created for devout believers. They were initially displayed on home altars to honor patron saints. “
