“English seemed to be the second language spoken Monday during Nantucket District Court’s criminal session.
Three different translators – Spanish, Portuguese and Lithuanian – were requested by the court staff in order to accommodate a number of defendants not fluent in English. Although it was unusual to have that many interpreters for a single session, it was illustrative of the growing demand for interpreters not only on Nantucket, but across Massachusetts.”
