“Viva Vision, the leading provider of branded, user-generated and original mobile video programming worldwide announced today the availability of LiveTraffic, the first live video traffic monitoring application for mobile devices in Latin America. Available through wireless carriers, the application is designed to address the growing demand from consumers for accurate live video traffic updates. The announcement demonstrates Viva Visions commitment to leverage its technology to deliver a wide variety of relevant content, for customers worldwide.
With the average commuting time on the rise in major cities in the region, live video traffic monitoring becomes a necessity for consumers. Unlike Web-based traffic monitoring sites, LiveTraffic by Viva Vision is built from the ground-up for optimal performance on mobile devices. The application uses live video feeds from strategically located cameras placed and operated by dedicated bodies including police departments, private security firms, etc. These feeds are converted using Viva Visions proprietary compression algorithm and made available to mobile handsets running the applications client software. This compression algorithm allows for 2G, 2.5G and 3G handsets to receive live video feeds, whether running in narrowband or broadband networks.
By offering content developed specifically for mobile devices, Iusacell & Unefon are demonstrating their commitment to deliver the best content and technology to their subscribers. LiveTraffic allows the carriers to get out of the content aggregator mold and strongly differentiate its services in the crowded wireless market by building brand loyalty with the on-the-go consumers.
“Viva Vision is excited to partner with Iusacell & Unefon who have their finger on the pulse of a fast-paced society and who are enthusiastic about the latest trends in wireless content,” says Nicholas Montes, president of Viva Vision. “Viva Vision will revolutionize the way we travel, optimizing time and allowing commuters to spend less time on the road.”
“Viva Visions advanced applications have helped us tremendously in differentiating ourselves in the market,” said Gustavo Guevara, Director for 3G Product Development for Iusacell & Unefon, the only carriers in Mexico with LiveTraffic. “It is through advanced services like LiveTraffic and partnerships with leading providers like Viva Vision that Iusacell & Unefon have built the subscriber base we have today.” The company, which has offered Viva Vision powered mobile applications since 2004, is one of Viva Visions 20 customers in North and South America.
