Hispanic drivers nearly four times more likely to be arrested, not cited – Nashville
Tagged: activist, Nashville, TennesseePosted on: March 27th, 2007“Hispanic persons in Nashville are almost four times more likely than persons of all other ethnicities to be physically arrested rather than issued citations for driving without driver’s licenses, according to new data compiled by the Metro Criminal Justice Planning Unit.
The release of these statistics comes at a time when Nashville’s law enforcement community and immigrant rights activists are already locked in a fierce debate about the moral, ethical and legal ramifications of an impending system to run instant immigration checks on the thousands of foreign-born persons who are arrested in Nashville each year.”
