“Polk County health officials says the Des Moines areas growing Latino community faces a health concern for children — lead poisoning.
Officials say about 60 percent of houses in Iowa were built before 1960 and likely contain lead-based paint. Advocates say every new family must be taught to avoid exposure to lead.”
