“Today, Senate Democrats approved a budget that will significantly improve the quality of life of Hispanic Americans. The Fiscal Year 2008 Senate Budget Resolution, S. Con. Res.21, approved today will boost funding for critical programs that impact the daily lives of Latinos, such as: education, health care, and economic opportunities, among other vital priorities. The budget also includes up to $180 billion in tax cuts for working and middle class families.

“Senate Democrats are committed to the priorities of Latino families
and we are rolling up our sleeves to ensure that the values important to
Hispanic families are reflected in our nation’s budget,” Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said. “That is why today we approved a budget
that embodies the common values of the American people, committing
ourselves to fiscal responsibility while putting middle class families
first. Last November, the American people said they were tired of business
as usual in Washington, and this budget will help move the country in a new
direction.”"
