“Mexia’s story is among dozens Mendoza celebrates in “The Book of Latina Women: 150 Vidas of Passion, Strength and Success.”
In honor of Womens History Month, Mendoza will retell some of the stories at a program on the history of Latina women on March 24 at the Oceanside Public Library’s Mission branch.
“These women didn’t think about what they were doing as something out of the ordinary,” Mendoza said. “But they were going through their everyday lives changing things.””
