“She’s taking class at La Isla Language School, which has taught about 200 Hispanics since it opened eight months ago to address the language barrier.

Some Hispanic students are so driven to learn they attend class even after 12-hour work days, said Jeff Sasena, the schools director.

“Latinos do want to learn English,” he said. “Its a side that a lot of people dont see.”"
