MANATEES LATINO LEADERS: Health care expert helps the infirm, powerless
Tagged: Canada, children, Florida, latinaPosted on: March 18th, 2007“When her husband was transferred from his job in Canada to the west coast of Florida, Luz Corcuera was reluctant, to say the least.
She fought the transfer for a year, staying north with her children while her husband commuted, but eventually Corcuera migrated south in the late 1990s, a move that has greatly affected the lives of Manatee Countys 18,000 immigrant farmworkers.
In a relatively short time, she has embraced her new community and developed a reputation in the Latino community and beyond as a bold, effective leader.”
