“Latino advocate Jerry Gonzalez has screened the documentary “Fighting 529″ at universities and colleges across Georgia this year, using the film to question the motivations of legislators who drafted the states tough new illegal immigration law. And at most stops, his charges of racism and political opportunism have gone largely unchallenged.
But Tuesdays showing at Georgia Tech was different. There to watch “Fighting 529″ with 75 or so students was a last-minute guest: the author of the law, SB 529, himself.”
