“Panfilo “Blackie” Ochoa, who along with his brother is believed to have opened the first Mexican restaurant in Fort Wayne, died Monday. He was 67.

“Blackies” Corral Rib Bar, which was at 2713 S. Calhoun St. and is now La Margarita and owned by Pantaleon Ochoa, began serving Mexican food in 1968. Ochoa was an inspiration for other Mexican restaurant owners, said Mike Ray, who owns El Azteca on East State Boulevard.”
