Tagged: , , ,

“-What is the most effective way to help Hispanics/Latinos learn about and better manage their health? A new study co-sponsored by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation seeks to help answer that question. As part of the study, CareFirst is recruiting approximately 500 Hispanic/Latino residents in the Maryland, D.C. and Northern Virginia area to participate in this free weight-loss program.

Working with DrTango – a leading provider of Hispanic health care information — CareFirst is seeking area Hispanics/Latinos who are:

At least 18 years old

Overweight, but otherwise healthy

Internet users

The study will compare the impact on diet and physical activity of bilingual educational programs delivered in a variety of formats – online, offline and in combination.

All study participants will receive a copy of the book 30 Dieting Myths and access to other health and wellness tools and information, while some study participants will also receive confidential dietary guidance. The program is part of CareFirst Commitment, the organization’s effort to improve health care affordability, accessibility and quality.”
