“In Washington today, President Bush is scheduled to address the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce USHCC , the leading advocate for more than two million Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States. The President’s focus on Hispanic owned businesses is welcomed by many and is indicative of the growing economic clout and political power of Hispanics throughout the country.
The President will be speaking at the USHCC’s 17th Annual Legislative Conference, and several Sacramento area Hispanic business leaders will attend to represent their local constituents.
According to President/CEO of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Diana Borroel, “we are proud of all of our member businesses, and we are honored that the President recognizes the positive impact Hispanic-owned businesses have on the economy of the United States.” Ms. Borroel will be representing Sacramento’s Hispanic Chamber of Commerce alongside Legislative Chairman John Rueda and Chair of the Board-elect, Griselda Barajas.
The Chair of the Board of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, David C. Lizárraga said, “the Hispanic community is playing a bigger and bigger role in economic development, business expansion, productivity and the legislative process,” He continued, “having President Bush attend our Legislative Conference to discuss issues important to our nation truly reflects the impact of Hispanic entrepreneurs.”
USHCC President and CEO Michael L. Barrera echoed Mr. Lizárraga’s and Ms. Borroel’s comments by saying, “we are confident the Presidents words will demonstrate to the attendees and the nations leaders that Latino entrepreneurship is important for not only Hispanic economic development, but also for the U.S. and global economies.”
This years Conference theme is “Advancing Latino Entrepreneurship-Its Just Good Business.” The main purpose of the event is to underscore the importance of educating the nations leaders about the importance of engaging Hispanic entrepreneurs in national policy.
