Federal Judge Stops Port Chester Elections
Tagged: judge, New YorkPosted on: March 6th, 2007“A federal judge in White Plains granted a government motion Friday to enjoin the upcoming March 2007 elections for the Village of Port Chester.
The federal government filed a complaint on Dec. 15, alleging that Port Chesters at-large system of electing its governing Board of Trustees diluted the voting strength of the villages Hispanic citizens, in violation of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.”
