“mmigrants seeking U.S. citizenship have a new ally in their push to get federal immigration officials to lower the cost of becoming an American.

The Santa Cruz City Council is poised to adopt a resolution today that opposes a proposal calling for broad hikes in immigration fees.

Under the plan, naturalization fees would rise from $330 to $595. Someone bringing their fiance into the United States would pay $290 instead of the current $190.”
