The Hartford Names Ricardo A. Anzaldua Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Director of Corporate Law

AnzaldÚa, 53, has joined the company as senior vice president, associate general counsel and director of corporate law. In this role, AnzaldÚa will oversee the company’s corporate law group, including the securities and corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, technology, bankruptcy and real estate legal functions. AnzaldÚa will report to Neal Wolin, executive vice president and general counsel at The Hartford. His appointment is effective February 26, 2007.

Most recently, AnzaldÚa was a partner with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, where he began his legal career in 1990. At the firm, AnzaldÚa’s practice areas included general corporate transactions, such as cross-border private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital market offerings, and debt restructurings, as well as corporate governance, U.S. sanctions and international trade negotiations. AnzaldÚa’s clients included a number of Fortune 100 financial services companies, finance ministries and central banks.
Prior to earning his J.D. at Harvard Law School in 1990, AnzaldÚa was a doctoral student at the University of California, San Diego, where he studied Latin American history and was the publications director for the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies. AnzaldÚa earned an A.B. from Brown University in Latin American studies. He is admitted to practice law in Connecticut, the District of Columbia and New York.
AnzaldÚa serves as chairperson of the Latino Alumni Committee for the Harvard Law School Association and of the Hispanic National Bar Association New York Region’s Committee on the Judiciary. He is a member of New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Court Structure and Judicial Selection, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York’s Committee to Enhance Diversity.
