SMASH targets young minorities with keen interest in math, science
Tagged: California, San Francisco, studentPosted on: February 25th, 2007“Anthony Bravo his real name is a high school junior from Daly City and is considered the podcasting guru among his pack of science-minded friends. His voice is deep and possesses a roughness most common among longtime smokers.
Bravo and Monica Alcazar, the other podcast personality, are members of SMASH, a highly selective program for black, Hispanic and American Indian students from the Bay Area with a keen interest in math, technology, science and engineering. Although producing podcasts and talking about science seems to be the main reason these students are encouraged to come together twice a month in San Francisco, there is another, less obvious purpose.”
