“The folks behind Playfest have a variety of reasons to bring in the plays they do. Some are plays that need work before they get their first productions. But others, like Elaine Romeros Barrio Hollywood, have different justifications. In the case of Barrio Hollywood, its to develop a Hispanic audience — and even a primarily Spanish-speaking audience — for the Shakespeare Festival.

So for Barrio Hollywood, the Miami-based cast is performing the play twice in English and twice in Spanish. On the second weekend of the festival, there are supposed to be supertitles in one language while the actors are saying their lines in the other.”
