“The only Hispanic Republican lawmaker in the 181-member Texas Legislature has so far declined to join the House Mexican American Legislative Caucus.

Caucus leaders are perplexed that Rep. Nathan Macias, R-Bulverde, has not responded to invitations or attended caucus meetings. The caucus is dominated by Democrats but considers itself bipartisan.

Macias said he has not been invited.”
