Webs profits soar - TV Azteca earnings grow sevenfold

“TV Azteca, Mexicos No. 2 web, on Wednesday said fourth-quarter net profit grew 646% to $64 million.

Earnings were boosted due to comparisons with fourth quarter 2005, when the net took a $44 million hit from restructuring the biz of Internet site Todito.com.

Revenues at the web owned by Mexican retail and mobile telephony tycoon Ricardo Salinas Pliego were up 3% to $240.7 million, boosted by growth at its U.S. subsidiary, Azteca America.”
