“Compass Bancshares, Inc. announced the sale of its 415 southwestern banking centers to Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Agentaria BBVA Friday, in a deal worth an estimated $9.6 billion in cash and stock.

The deal marks BBVA’s second Texas bank acquisition in nine months following the purchase of Texas Regional Bancshares, Inc. last June.”
