“Even after a nearly four-decade recording career as “The most influential regional Mexican group in the United States” (Billboard), LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE unquestionably still remain the leading creative and socially outspoken force in the genre today. With Los Tigres’ widely praised album Historias Que Contar having already won the LATIN GRAMMY last fall for “Best Norteño Album,” the album has now repeated the feat and added to the famed family group’s multiple award tallies by taking home a GRAMMY today.
Having concluded another special year of once again topping the Latin charts with multiple albums, selling out concert venues through out the world, and being recognized by their peers with another GRAMMY Award, Los Tigres quickly turn their eye to the future with a new single going to radio across the country this week. With the eagerly-awaited new LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE album Detalles y Emociones (“Details and Emotions”) now set for release on March 27th, fans will get a first listen as initial single “Detalles” is delivered to radio on Monday morning, February 12th. The heartfelt corrido is a reminder to the band’s fans that while many are pursuing dreams of material wealth, that genuine demonstrations of affection and care for our loved ones are still a man’s greatest riches.
Of course, in keeping with LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE’s long tradition of addressing the biggest political hot-topics of their community, another highlight of Detalles y Emociones is sure to be “El Muro” (”The Wall”). The highly outspoken track challenges the idea of the proposed Border Fence by reminding listeners that throughout history, walls constructed by governments to prevent free passage of the populace all eventually fail and are torn down. In order to highlight these ineffective walls constructed by different cultures, a special bonus version of the song will find famed Tigres frontman Jorge Hernandez sing not only in the group’s traditional Spanish, but also in English, German, French and even Farsi. As Los Tigres does a full 10-months out of the year, the group will be sharing many of their famed corridos to large audiences this week at the following shows:
February 17 - New York, NY - Bedford Armory (Brooklyn)
February 18 - Washington, DC - DC Armory”
