Does U.S. law targeting illegal immigrants hurt citizens? – Wisconsin

“A total of 14,034 people, roughly half of them children, were denied or lost health insurance through state health programs last year because of a new federal law that requires proof of citizenship and identity.

Of those, 69% had proof of citizenship but were denied or lost coverage because they did not prove their identity.

Those figures, based on state data, are in a recent report by the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families. But just what they signify is open to interpretation.”
