“Ms. Torres is now a doctoral candidate in Texas Womans University’s reading and literacy program, with a dissertation focus on reading and education. Last week, she received the prestigious Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award, a scholarship to continue her studies at the school where she also earned her masters degree.

A native of Puerto Rico, Ms. Torres earned her undergraduate degree in modern languages there before settling in Plano with her husband, a mechanical engineer and manager for a local company. Her résumé shows a track record of education leadership, innovation and community service.”
