“The North County Latinas Association has canceled this years “Adelante Mujer” conference for the first time in 14 years because, officials with the organization said Tuesday, there is a need to restructure the event and develop a strategy to deal with the growing attendance.
Association President Monica Nava sent a brief letter to community members and North County schools this month stating it was with a “heavy heart” that the association decided to suspend its daylong conference at Cal State San Marcos, which focused on education, careers and self-esteem specifically for young Latinas.”
