“Nestor Gonzalez registered to vote shortly after he arrived in Orlando last summer with his wife and daughter.
The U.S. citizen from Puerto Rico said he signed up because the motor-vehicle clerk asked him about it when he went to get his drivers license. He didnt intend to vote.
A Sentinel analysis of election data shows that Hispanics in Central Florida made significant gains in registration since the gubernatorial race four years ago — adding about 90,000 eligible voters to top 200,000. But many, such as Gonzalez, never made it to the polls.”
