“When Lester Hernandez went to work as a barber in his Cuban hometown of Alamar in the early 1990s, he would often greet Cuban exiles who sought a haircut while visiting the island nation.

Amid cigar smoke and Spanish chatter at Salon de Falcon, the expatriates would tell Hernandez of their lives in Miami and tell him that he could do great business there with a shop of his own.”
