Knowledge is Power!

“Tourism in Cuba has boomed, even without U.S. tourists. More than 2.3 million travelers - mainly from Canada, Britain, Italy, Spain and Mexico - visited the country in 2005, according to Cuba’s government. Ten years ago, that number was 742,000.

For an American, getting to Cuba is problematic at best, illegal at worst. A U.S. embargo on trade and travel to Cuba has been in effect more than 40 years. There are a few exceptions to the ban, one of which applies to journalists, who are free to visit the country. I booked my tickets and hotel from a Canadian travel agency. I caught my one-hour flight to Havana from Cancun, Mexico.”
