Alvaro Acosta, Hispanic outreach consultant for the local Red Cross, estimates less than 1 percent of Hispanics in Northwest Arkansas donate blood. He added Hispanics are valuable as blood donors because six out of every 10 have universal type O negative, which can be used in almost every person who needs blood.”
