“Gov. Deval Patrick will rescind a state-federal agreement in which the Romney administration planned to have State Police troopers arrest illegal immigrants and replace it with a state-sponsored initiative against illegal immigrants, a top Patrick aide said Thursday.

The new governor planned to make the announcement at a midday news conference in the Statehouse, said the aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity in advance of Patricks appearance. The aide would not give extensive specifics about the new initiative.”
