Christina Castorena, associate dean for diversity at Everett Community College, said Huerta remains an inspiring figure. As a negotiator, she helped win the first labor contracts for farm workers that gave them the right to toilets in fields, drinking water in paper cups, rest periods, paid vacations and protections from pesticides.”
