The big problem in immigration is we dont see the immigrants as us, even though generations past, most of us were exactly in their place. There were no documents, no strict border enforcement for most of Americas history.
These college students – they have names, Karina, Erika, Silvia, Bryant and Ruben – see themselves as Americans.
And indeed, you talk to them, listen to them, and you get the same sense. They embody our values: hard work, a thirst for fair play, hope for a better life. They are us In fact, most Americans would swell with pride if these were their own children. “
