Integrating ‘illegals’ – Begin immigration debate by eliminating fence
Tagged: border, crime, MexicoPosted on: January 4th, 2007“The best outcome of the past years debates on immigration is that Congress never agreed on a comprehensive reform package. What it did agree on — a $1.2 billion, 700-mile “fence” to gash across parts of the border with Mexico — reflects everything that was wrong with its other attempts at immigration reform: xenophobia, racism, scorn for the nations immigration tradition and, above all, a misconstrued equation of illegal immigration with crime.”
