“The recent murder of black teen Cheryl Green in Harbor Gateway in Los Angeles by alleged Latino gang members and the more than a dozen attacks by Latinos and blacks on each other in Los Angeles point to a pending crisis in Latino and black relations in Los Angeles and other American cities. The situation is so grave that there is now a zone in Los Angeles where a black can only enter at the risk of grave harm. Purported Latino gang members established the forbidden zone.

On Saturday, January 6, the Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable, which is a multi-ethnic public policy change organization, will convene a confab of black and Latino leaders and officials to devise strategies to end the violence. But according to Earl Ofari Hutchinson, President, Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable, the situation has reached the flashpoint.”
