“Berrios is one of five volunteers who translate sermons for Vance and a handful of other native-English speakers attending the largely Hispanic church. At the beginning of Sunday services, those who need a translation device – the church has 10 of them – pick one up from the multimedia room in the back of the sanctuary.

Its uncommon for churches in South Hampton Roads to offer such a service. But the Rev. Benito , the churchs pastor, suggested the ministry will grow.

“More people who speak the English language are coming to our congregation,” he said. “Thats why I provide the service.”"
