Language is no barrier for sermons at this church – Virginia
Tagged: bilingual, Fonseca, Spanish-language, VirginiaPosted on: January 3rd, 2007“Berrios is one of five volunteers who translate sermons for Vance and a handful of other native-English speakers attending the largely Hispanic church. At the beginning of Sunday services, those who need a translation device – the church has 10 of them – pick one up from the multimedia room in the back of the sanctuary.
Its uncommon for Spanish-language churches in South Hampton Roads to offer such a service. But the Rev. Benito Fonseca, the churchs pastor, suggested the ministry will grow.
“More people who speak the English language are coming to our congregation,” he said. “Thats why I provide the bilingual service.”"
