“Flush with optimism, the Democratic majority in the new Congress is expected to make another attempt at bipartisan immigration reform legislation early in the new session. Lets hope they can get it together and craft a law that really makes sense for both immigrants and the U.S. economy in 2007.

The Democrats hope to pass legislation that would drop a requirement in the Senate bill passed last spring that would force millions of illegal immigrants currently living in the United States to pack up and head back across the border to their homeland before they could become eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship.”
